Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect after reaching out?

I will be in touch within 48 hours and we can schedule a free 15 minute consultation call to go over any questions you may have and get a feel for the type of support you're looking for. If we feel that we are a good fit, we can then schedule a session! If not, I will provide names of other therapists who may be a better fit for you.

If we schedule a session, you will then receive instructions on how to electronically sign the intake paperwork as well as instructions for how to keep a credit card on file for payment.

How long are sessions, and how long does therapy last?

Sessions are 50 minutes. Therapy can last as long as you need it to! Some people find weekly therapy for months, or even years, to be beneifical, some like to check in every other week or once a month, and some need support for only a couple of months.

What does an art therapy session look like?

No two sessions are exactly the same, but what you can expect during an art therapy session is to engage in art making for some, or all, of the session. There is no pressure to make art-if you're not feeling it one day, that is completely okay. This time is yours. I will never judge, critique, or interpret your art for you, though I may ask questions about the process or what you've created in order to encourage reflection and meaning making. Some sessions may involve art making with no prompts or directives, other times I may give a prompt that I feel can help to reach the goals of the session. You are always welcome to listen to music or talk while creating, or to stay quiet. I will leave time for reflecting and processing at the end, if that feels right for you in the moment. Any art that you create in session is yours to do with as you wish.

What is your rate? Do you take insurance?

My rate for a 50 minute session is $165.

I am an "out of network" provider and do not accept insurance. However, your insurance may offer partial or full reimbursement for out of network services. If they do, I can provide a superbill (essentially a receipt of services) for you to submit to your insurance for reimbrusement.

How do I pay?

Payment will be collected at the time of session through Ivy Pay. I will send instructions for inputting your card on this system, which is secure and HIPAA compliant. I can also accept check or cash for payment, though I do still require a credit card on file. HSA/FSA cards are accepted.

Do you offer virtual therapy?

Yes! While I do tend to prefer art therapy in person, I am able to offer virtual sessions for people residing in Pennsylvania who may prefer meeting virtually. You do not need to go out and purchase every art material for virtual therapy, as we can use just the basics (such as paper and markers). But feel free to get new materials if you'd like!

My sitter fell through- can I bring my baby?

I completely understand this! Sometimes sitters are unavaible or maybe you have an exclusively breastfed infant. You are welcome to bring your child to your session if you feel that you can still be open and present with them in the room. Or, we can pivot and meet virtually for that session.

I can't draw- is art therapy right for me?

Absolutely! Talent and skill in art is not required. This is not art class; you will not be graded or critiqued!
