Alexandra Johnson, ATR-BC, LPC

I am a Board-Certified Art Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor with over a decade of experience supporting individuals of all ages through life’s transitions and challenges. I earned my Master’s Degree in Art Therapy from Drexel University and have worked in a variety of settings, including schools, inpatient adult and pediatric psychiatric hospitals, outpatient programs, grief programs, after school social programs, and private practice. (Although my eight years as a pharmacy technician may have been my best training and experience for therapy!) My passion for birth and perinatal mental health grew from my own journey through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, as well as from my experiences and invaluable support I received from my doula and midwives.

I aim to make counseling feel laid-back and welcoming, where my clients feel truly heard and empowered to explore their emotions and work toward their goals. My approach is client-centered and collaborative, often infused with humor and creativity. I also enjoy incorporating unique tools like tarot cards or birth charts to add depth to our sessions when appropriate. As a trained Art Therapist, I specialize in using art as a powerful tool for healing and self-expression.  Visit my page on What is Art Therapy? to learn more about its benefits and impact.

When I'm not working, I enjoy trying new restaurants & coffee shops, practicing yoga, attending concerts and emo nites, reality tv, reading psychological thrillers, and spending time with friends, family, my husband, daughters, and cats. I am also a watercolor artist and I paint live at weddings and events!!

Office Location

822 Montgomery Ave, Suite 204

Narberth, PA 19073

The office is located off of Montgomery Ave in Narberth, across from the Acme (and also Kismet Luncheonette- highly recommend!). There is plenty of parking in a well-lit lot and the building has an elevator. We have a private waiting room with coffee and tea (I know how much that is needed, especially for new parents!)

Drawn to Blossom

The name is inspired by the pull I’ve felt to support and help others in their journey to grow and "blossom," as well as my own need to do the same.

There is a quote by art therapist Cathy Malchiodi that I love : "When words are not enough, we turn to images and symbols to tell our stories. And in telling our stories through art, we find pathways to wellness, recovery and transformation." This quote influenced the name as well- we must draw (create) in order to blossom, grow, change, heal, and be well.

The artwork on the site is created by me, and the beautiful nature photographs are by a dear friend: Sabah Nicolas Photography
